About us

Deep3 Signage Consultants is based in Modderfontein, Johannesburg, and works with brands, developers and municipalities that need signage done properly from first survey to final handover. We specify, build and rig signage and LED screens for sites across Gauteng, coastal cities and the rest of Africa.

How Deep3 started in Johannesburg

Deep3 Signage Consultants gives clients one accountable team for signage planning, fabrication and site delivery. In a market where projects often get split between consultants, fabricators and installers, we built our process around one thing, practical control from concept to completion.

Our base in Modderfontein keeps us close to Sandton, Midrand, Randburg, Germiston, Pretoria and Centurion, while our project work regularly takes us into Durban and beyond. That matters when a site needs quick decisions, municipal coordination, or a crew on the road with the right steel, fixings and lift plan in hand. We understand South African conditions too, from load-shedding and harsh sun to coastal humidity and heavy rain. Signage must keep working after handover, not just look good on day one.

Over time we have grown into a team that can handle printed vinyl, routered Perspex, aluminium and brass finishes, fabricated 3D lettering, light boxes, pylons, road signs, billboards and LED video screens. The scope changes from job to job, but the standard stays the same: accurate, safe and suitable for the site.

What we stand for on every project

Our work is guided by a few practical values that shape how we quote, plan and build. We do not overpromise, and we do not leave clients guessing about the next step.

  • Accuracy: site measurements, drawings and material choices must suit the actual conditions on site.
  • Compliance: approval support, road signage requirements and structural coordination are handled with care.
  • Durability: materials and fixings are selected for wind, sun, dust and corrosion where relevant.
  • Accountability: one team owns the project through fabrication, logistics, rigging and handover.
  • Clarity: clients get plain guidance on what will work, what will cost, and what risks need to be managed.

We also believe in honest specification. If a finish will not last in a particular position, or if a screen location needs stronger structural support, we say so early. That approach saves time, avoids rework and protects the client’s budget. It also keeps the end result aligned with the site, the building and the people who will use it every day.

How we plan signage that works on site

Good signage starts long before fabrication. Our process begins with signage strategy, then moves into site surveys, wayfinding planning and design development. This stage is where we map the movement of people, vehicles and sightlines, because a sign that cannot be seen clearly is wasted money.

We then handle material specification and structural coordination so the chosen system suits the surface, the span, the height and the exposure. For some sites that means aluminium and brass with a refined finish. For others it means printed vinyl, Perspex, routed components, fabricated steel frames or a combination of several elements. LED video screens add another layer, and those need correct positioning, ventilation, access and support.

Our team works closely with consultants, developers, municipal departments and contractors to keep the project moving. When approval support is needed, we prepare the technical information required so the submission process is not slowed down by missing details. The result is a planned signage package that can move into production with fewer surprises.

The team behind the work

Deep3 is led by a team with different strengths, and that balance matters on complex projects. Sibusiso Mthembu guides the company as Managing Director, keeping the commercial and project direction aligned with what clients actually need. Leanne van Wyk manages operations, so schedules, logistics and deliverables stay organised. Sakhile Motsepe looks after project engineering, which is where technical decisions and site realities meet.

Thandiwe Ndlovu leads design and visualisation, helping clients see how signs, screens and directional systems will sit in the built environment. Riaan Smit supervises fabrication and keeps workmanship consistent through the workshop. Omolemo Msiza coordinates site rigging, which is critical when installations must be lifted, fixed and commissioned safely in busy conditions.

Together, the team covers the full chain from early concept to project handover. That means fewer gaps between departments, clearer communication and better control over the final result. It also means that when a project changes on the fly, as many site jobs do, there is still someone who understands the technical, practical and scheduling impact.

  • Project planning from survey to handover
  • Workshop production and fabrication control
  • Site rigging and installation management
  • Screen integration and maintenance planning

Materials, fabrication and rigging across Africa

We build for real conditions, not showroom conditions. In Gauteng that can mean dust, strong UV and busy roads. In Durban or other coastal areas it can mean salt air and humidity. Across the continent it can mean remote sites, uneven access, limited downtime and strict installation windows. Our fabrication and rigging approach is shaped by those demands.

Where a project calls for illuminated signage, we consider access for maintenance, component replacement and safe electrical integration from the outset. Where a pylon or billboard is involved, structural coordination and installation method become just as important as the face finish. Where a municipality needs road signs or wayfinding, legibility, standard sizing and placement are part of the job, not an afterthought.

We also plan for maintenance. Signage and screens should be serviceable, because a system that cannot be reached or repaired easily becomes expensive to own. That is why our maintenance planning looks at access points, spare parts, cleaning requirements and expected wear over time. The goal is to deliver work that is practical to keep in service, not just impressive during the first week.

How we handle approvals, handover and aftercare

Our work does not stop when fabrication ends. Site delivery, installation management and project handover are part of the same chain. Before we go to site, we make sure the drawing set, fixings, lifting method and logistics are in place. During installation, we keep the work coordinated so the sign or screen is fitted correctly and the site remains safe.

After handover, the client should have a clear understanding of what was installed, how it operates and what care it needs. That includes any maintenance notes, access considerations and practical guidance for the people who will use the signage day to day. We find this is especially important for large developments and public-facing projects, where several parties may be involved and the site can change over time.

Whether the job is in Sandton, Pretoria, Midrand or further afield, the principle stays the same: plan properly, build accurately and leave the client with a system that can be managed sensibly. That is the standard we work to on every project, big or small.

  • Clear scope from the first enquiry
  • Technical coordination before fabrication starts
  • Safe installation and site close-out
  • Handover information that is useful on the ground

Deep3's signage craft behind lasting brand spaces

We handle both the creative and technical sides of signage in one working process. They need practical advice, reliable scheduling and workmanship that can stand up to South African conditions. They also need a supplier that can manage multiple elements at once without losing control of detail.

That is what we offer from our Modderfontein base. We are close enough to support projects in Johannesburg and Pretoria quickly, and experienced enough to manage work farther afield when the project calls for it. From a single sign face to a full package of wayfinding, pylons and LED screens, we approach each job with the same care.

Deep3 is built on clear communication, sound specification and proper execution. That is how we work, and it is why our clients trust us to specify, build and rig signage that does the job for the long term.
