Signage strategy for new sites and rebrands
Good signage starts before anything is cut, printed or welded. We help clients set the right scope for each site, whether it is a single shopfront in Sandton, a campus in Midrand or a municipal rollout in Pretoria. The goal is to match the brief to the building, the traffic flow, the viewing distance and the budget.
Our strategy work is practical. We look at where people approach from, what they need to read first, and how the signage must perform in Gauteng heat, coastal humidity in Durban or dusty roadside conditions on regional routes.
- Brand and site intent review
- Signage scope planning by location and use
- Rollout phasing for multi-site programmes
- Budget aligned recommendations
Site surveys and measurement checks
Before fabrication begins we confirm the site conditions that affect fixing points, sightlines and installation access. That includes measuring available space, checking wall build-ups, noting services and identifying anything that could affect rigging or electrical integration.
For developers and municipalities this step is often the difference between a clean install and costly rework. We document the site so the engineering, fabrication and installation teams can work from the same information, instead of making assumptions on the day.
- On-site measurements and photo records
- Access and lift planning
- Existing structure and fixings review
- Site constraints flagging for approvals and buildability
Technical specification and material selection
Once the brief is clear we specify the right materials and build methods for the application. That may mean printed vinyl for short term graphics, routered Perspex for dimensional elements, aluminium for durable external panels or brass where a more formal finish is needed.
We also specify for environment and maintenance. On exposed sites we consider corrosion resistance, UV exposure, wind load and long term cleaning access. On live roads or public spaces, visibility and safety matter as much as appearance.
- Material schedules and finish selection
- Internal and external signage specification
- LED screen integration requirements
- Maintenance friendly detailing
Approvals support and structural coordination
Signage can trigger municipal, landlord or site specific approvals, and these requirements vary from one town to the next. We assist with the documentation needed to keep the process moving and coordinate the technical inputs required for structural sign off, especially on larger pylons, billboards and roof mounted work.
This is where project risk is often managed. A sign that looks straightforward on paper may need anchor checks, load confirmation or changes to dimensions before it can proceed. We help the client get those issues sorted early, so the programme doesnt stall later.
- Drawing and specification coordination
- Approval documentation support
- Structural input for large format signage
- Programme risk identification
Fabrication, installation and rigging oversight
Our consulting support continues through build and install. We track fabrication against the approved scope, confirm the sequencing of production and make sure installation and rigging are managed with the right checks in place. That includes fabricated 3D lettering, light boxes, road signs and large format LED screens.
For projects across Gauteng and the rest of Africa, this oversight is critical. Transport, site access, power availability and working at height all need to be planned before the team arrives. On remote or busy sites, a small delay can quickly become a costly one.
- Fabrication management and shop floor coordination
- Installation method review
- Rigging planning for height and access constraints
- Final fitment checks and snagging
Handover, maintenance planning and long term support
Once the signs are installed, the work is not finished. We prepare handover information so the client understands the installed scope, the maintenance requirements and the practical issues that may affect future repairs or replacements. This is especially useful for landlords, developers and public sector clients managing multiple sites.
We also advise on cleaning cycles, lamp or module access, repainting intervals and how to handle damage after storms, vehicle impact or load-shedding related interruptions to illuminated systems. Small issues are easier to manage when there is a plan in place.
- Project handover packs
- Maintenance planning by sign type
- Repair and replacement guidance
- Ongoing support for staged rollouts
